2011 Fashion Trends

Each season there is an endless supply of fashionistas blogging and writing about the newest fashion trends.  They translate what comes down the runway so you can adorn yourself in the newest trends.  But for many women, following trends just isn’t something they care about or feel the need to keep up with.  I’m one of them!  Maybe when I was in my 20’s I was a slave to fashion, but nowadays it’s less important to me.  My personal style remains a sexy, simple, clean and modern look.  I incorporate one or two new trends into my style each season as well as give up trends that are really over.  Why?  Because there’s nothing worse than looking dated!  If you are still wearing Ed Hardy crystallized and bedazzled shirts, hats, pants, handbags and whatever else might be jeweled up-please just donate it to goodwill or sell it in a yard sale!
To help you navigate through all the trends that are out there, I’ve put together a few items you should incorporate into your wardrobe and some to retire to keep you looking current and fresh!  You may even have some of these new trends already tucked away in your closet.

WEAR: Flared leg and high waisted (or natural waist) jeans

RETIRE:  Jeggings, tight skinnies and super ripped jeans

GO FOR IT: White cotton long sleeve button up shirt

RETIRE:  Plaid shirts

GO FOR IT: Simple, solid-NON logo’d tee shirts in bright colors like tangerine, yellow, magenta, Kelly green, white or black

RETIRE:  ANTYTHING whether it’s a tee shirt, jacket, hat or pant that remotely resembles Ed Hardy or Affliction and is adorned with scrolls, wings, flocking, crystals, skulls, tattoo art, tigers (you get the point)

GO FOR IT: Long flowing skirts that can be knee length, mid-calf, ankle or maxi lengths.

RETIRE:  Short and tight mini’s (but keep them in the closet-they’ll probably be back in a few years)

GO FOR IT: Wide leg and loose fit trouser pants

RETIRE:  Leggings as outfits
