Want to spend your summer in a beautiful destination that offers secluded beaches, little coves, and a “meditation trail among the Lucan Apennines? If you’re the crafty type and you’re dying to visit the southern coast of Italy, this might be your opportunity.
Just a few miles from the Maratea Sea, San Costantino di Rivello, a town in the province of Potenza, hopes to attract 149 artists, designers and artisans from around the world for its Unconventionall Holiday Market this summer. Artists in residence are offered the opportunity to re-interpret the concept of “souvenir” that is usually associated with forgettable, plastic crap most of us grab while on vacation.
For a fee of 90EUR + accommodation, you can join the community for a minimum one week stay in July or August. Market organizers hope artists will enjoy the beach during the day and then sell their art at night. Applications are available until June 10, 2010.
