Visibility School
Setting an intention is one of the most important things I do as an interior design business coach. When you’ve set an intention for a new vision and hit the start button, it usually gets messy. Mess causes stress. Everything that is not a match for that vision will present itself, usually in the form […]
As an Interior Design Business Coach, I hear a lot of advice about why your interior design business isn’t growing, a lot of it wrong. That’s because I’ve worked privately with over a hundred, leading boutique design firms and helped them grow from six to and seven-figure revenue. So perhaps it’s the creative rebel in […]
Following her intuition, Nicole Crowder began her second act and made a transition from full-time photo editor to pursue her true calling in upholstery and furniture design. In this “Lesson on Soul Work”, we talk about her brand new collaboration with World Market, her practice of slow creation, and why using her lineage to tell […]
You know the type. Those people who stomp on the seed of the vision rooted in your heart, or who water it with a “well-meaning” dose of reality.
Here’s the thing, realistic is really only someone else’s take on their experience. What they have decided emotionally, intellectually, and usually not spiritually, has nothing to do with you. That is unless you accept their reality as your own.
Happy International Women’s Day!
On this day that celebrates the working woman, I’d like to offer some blunt advice.

You’ve made the decision to go after something. You have a plan. You start to execute said plan and then something goes wrong, very wrong. In fact, it seems like that thing you want is even farther away than when you started.
I feel like I just wrote about this but it begs repeating, everybody has a number. Everybody has a number. That potential interior design client who doesn’t know what their budget is? They have a number. Why do I know this? Because the minute you exceed it, they will tell you you’re too expensive. This […]
With the rise of the internet for licensing and information products, the phrase passive income for interior designers has a new sense of urgency. Everybody wants to start earning some, now. I get it. Earning money on the work you’ve already done, in perpetuity, sounds pretty good. But unless you get very lucky, passive income […]
Some people won’t get the value of what you do no matter how well or often you explain it. You don’t have to worry about those one-off conversations; sometimes it’s not about you. But if you find yourself having the same conversation — sales, employee, spouse or otherwise — over and over again, guess what? […]
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery or so the saying goes and I suppose copycats are par for the course when you’re successful in creative business but I’m not going to lie, they bug me. One of my clients recently had her design ripped off by a fellow blogger. Now that design had already […]
The difference between unknowns, design leaders and legends is a factor of visibility. But being visible is about more than being seen, one of its underused definitions is available.
